Tasty Pizza Sauce
A great pizza sauce can take your pizzas to a whole new level. It's easy to just get started with a standard tomato base but putting in a little extra effort is well worth it.
The great thing about any pizza sauce is that a little goes along way. This recipe will make enough to create about 8 great pizzas and can be stored away in a fridge for up to a week. This great but simple sauce will compliment any toppings and add great flavour.
Ingredients
For around 8 x 12 pizzas
1. Olive Oil - 2 table spoons
2. Garlic - 2 cloves that have been crushed or finely chopped
3. Canned Plum Tomatoes - 800g
4. Sugar - 1 heaped tea spoon
5. Salt - 1 tea spoon
6. Basil Leaves - a good handful roughly chopped
7. Ground Black Pepper - Just a pinch
How to make the sauce
1. Place a pan on a medium heat and add the olive oil. Once warm add the garlic and fry until the garlic is soft, but not brown!
2. Pour in the tomatoes and mash them down
3. Add all remaining ingredients and leave to simmer on a low heat for about 20 minutes. The sauce should thicken a little.
4. The sauce is ready to use straight away.
